What is QR Forge?

QR Forge is a free QR code generator that runs entirely in your browser. Anonymous users can create static QR codes (URL, text, WiFi, vCard, email, phone, SMS) with no signup. Authenticated users get dynamic QR codes that can be re-pointed without changing the printed code, plus folders, scan analytics, and team features.

What's the difference between static and dynamic QR codes?

Static QR codes encode data directly. The contents can't change after the code is printed: scanning a static QR for "https://example.com" always opens that URL. Dynamic QR codes redirect through QR Forge's servers, so you can update the destination URL anytime without reprinting, and we record every scan for analytics.

Do I need to sign up?

No, the static generator is free and requires no account. Sign up only if you want dynamic codes, scan tracking, folders, or team features.

How does sign-in work? There's no password field.

QR Forge uses magic-link sign-in plus passkeys. We email you a one-time link that signs you in for 30 days; on first sign-in you can register a passkey (Touch ID, Face ID, Windows Hello, or a hardware security key) so subsequent sign-ins are one tap. We never store passwords because there are no passwords to store.

What happens if I hit my scan limit?

Your printed QR codes keep working forever, we never break a code. We just pause analytics recording (the scan still redirects, we just don't log it) until the next billing cycle resets your quota or you upgrade.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes. Cancel from your dashboard. You'll keep your current plan through the end of the billing period, then drop to Free. Existing dynamic codes keep working; you just can't create new ones beyond the Free quota.

Do you offer refunds?

Full refund within 14 days of your first subscription payment if you're not satisfied. Email support@tryqrforge.com.

What data do you collect?

For anonymous use of the generator, nothing. Generation runs entirely in your browser. For authenticated users we store your email, the QR codes you create, and (for dynamic codes) scan logs with hashed IP, country, city, user-agent, and referer. See the Privacy Policy for the full breakdown.

Where are scan logs stored?

PostgreSQL on Railway (US-West data center). IPs are hashed before storage; we don't keep raw IP addresses.

Can I export my data?

Yes. Email support@tryqrforge.com from the address tied to your account and we'll deliver an export.

How do I delete my account?

Sign in, go to your dashboard, and use the "Delete account" link. This permanently deletes your user row, all QR codes, all folders, all scan logs, and all passkeys. The action is immediate and irreversible.

Can I use QR Forge for commercial projects?

Yes, on any plan. The Free tier is fine for small commercial use; Starter, Pro, and Business unlock progressively more dynamic codes, analytics depth, and bulk-generation capacity.

Do you have an API?

Yes, on the Pro and Business plans. API documentation is published once your account is upgraded; programmatic QR code creation, scan analytics, and folder management are all supported.
